Jett Farrell-Vega

Jett Farrell-Vega has been working in the industries of film, theater, writing, and live production for just over ten years. Her initial training was as a volunteer for Abundant Living Faith Center in El Paso, TX, with focus on theatrical production, broadcast television, and audio/visual operation. From there, she also took up independent videography, live sound operation, and in 2003 worked her first film gig as a production assistant for Fox’s The Day After Tomorrow.

Between 2003 and 2006, she attended the film school at Scottsdale Community College where she earned an Associates of Arts and Sciences in Motion Picture Production, receiving hands on training in narrative and documentary filmmaking, and broadcast television. She directed several shorts including Every Monday Night (short MOS comedy), The Bad Guys Don’t Wear Black (PSA), Kill the Hero (still-based avant garde), To See Through a Darkened Glass (documentary), and Beauty Sleeping (drama). She also acted in such productions as A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Professionally, she worked as the on-call videographer for Gilbert Fine Arts Productions, a camera operator for staged productions such as Mosaico, a photographer’s assistant and color corrector for Epic Places magazine, and eventually was hired as the Creative Team Coordinator for Ministry Edge, an organization that aids Christian high school graduates entering college.

In 2006, Jett relocated to Denver, Colorado where she began work on a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/Theater/Television Writing and Directing at The University of Colorado at Denver. Under the teaching of industry professionals like Craig Volk (writer, Northern Exposure), Ric Waite (director of photography, Red Dawn), and Don Baer (assistant director, Topaz) she furthered her training in production, screenwriting, and playwriting.

She currently works regularly as a production assistant for film and television (American Gladiators II, Rock the Reception, Nova Science, 16 and Pregnant, American Idol) and as a freelance writer. She wrote and directed the majority of the Eyes of Fire Films, including Persephone (which received an honorable mention in Writer’s Digest’s Annual Writing Contest in the screenplay category) and Interview with a Supervillain. She is also working on an adventure-satire novel, A Hero’s Story. She regularly contributes to Examiner.com as the Denver Writer’s Community Examiner, and maintains a satirical writer's blog on this website called “Fishing with Crossbows”.

As a volunteer, she drums for the worship band of Faith Church Aurora, and also acts as an on-call sound recordist for Global Outreach Foundation.
