Jett Doing Amanda's Make-up on PersephoneArtist's Statment:

“Both storyteller and part of the story,” is a common phrase I use as an artist. While the majority of the work I do in the industry is technical-focused in some manner, when it comes to the art forms I thrive in, ultimately, my passion boils down to story. The medium of expression can vary, as can the genre and method of delivery, but story is the thing that lights my being ablaze. To take a tale and bring it to life in some form: it’s the essence of being created in the image of a Creator.

Writing, directing, and acting are my penultimate goals in the realms of film, theater, and television. As a writer, some of the greatest strides I’ve made have been in aiding others in my craft via tools like the blog or my column at Examiner.com. Each format of writing has different specifications, and I’ve strived to learn as much about each of them as is possible during the time I’ve been working towards publication (e.g. screenwriting, novel writing, playwriting, episodic television). Most of those who have worked with me as a director would testify that I’m very actor focused… While I have been in the “Rebel without a Crew” shoes of having to fill hordes of various roles on set (Persephone was quite the epic example of this), my understanding is that a director is in charge of seeing the artistic vision of a project come to fruition, especially when it comes to nurturing the actors to bring that performance to life. Concerning ‘bread and butter’ work: production assisting, videography, live sound, local television, etc., I try to approach these with the same respect… There is almost always a story to be formed somewhere if you look hard enough, and my role then becomes aiding others in pursuing that.

I am passionate about the industries I work in, about story, about God… about bringing a spirit of respect, focus, and joy with me where I go. Am I perfect? Nope, never will be. Learning is half the fun of the journey though…
